PINoptic Secure Storage v2.1 freeware description:
PINoptic Secured Storage uses the patented security access control called a One Time Visual Probablistic password (OTP) combined with industrial and military grade encryption to keep your private content private to you or those you choose to share your PINoptic Passcode with. Different types of storage can be protected by using the PINoptic Secured Storage Product including USB Memory Stick, Partial or Entire Hard Disks and even ISO/Images and CD content. PINoptic Secured Storage is designed to be easy to install, use and manage. It is suitable for both consumers and enterprises concerned about protecting sensitive data on PC`s, Laptops and Mobile devices. How PINoptic Works-Instead of having a PIN or password, you have a series of pictures or icons that make up your `picture story password`. When you enter your picture story password, multiple pictures or icons are displayed beside discrete symbols (alphanumeric characters). You enter the symbols that are related to your picture story password to gain access. Each time you are asked for your picture story password the pictures, icons or symbols will be in a different place meaning that you will be entering a one-time-password each time. This means that you are protected from hacking and/or `shoulder surfing`. By increasing the number of symbols required for entry, security can be radically increased. For example a military grade application might require five sets of symbols to be entered. Research and confirmation of concept has been completed by cognitive psychologists at the University of Sunderland, UK, which suggests very little additional cognitive load is placed on the end-user over existing alpha-numeric PIN and password systems. In addition, the dynamic nature of the PINoptic keypad, where the symbols are shuffled on each attempt to enter the numbers, means that brute force attacks are virtually impossible
