KOH is a full disk or full partition (your choice) on-the-fly encryption system that provides the highest level of security available anywhere for your computer. With KOH, everything on your hard drive is always encrypted. No encrypted data whatsoever hides there. All data is decrypted when read from the hard disk into memory, and encrypted when written from memory to the hard disk. If somebody doesn`t have your passphrase, your computer is locked. Absolutely protecting everything in your computer is as easy as turning it off!
KOH installs itself in the Master Boot area of your hard drive and loads itself into memory before the operating system, encrypting all of your files - even the operating system itself. KOH uses installable encryption subsystems so you are not tied to a particular algorithm, and it comes with several subsystems including IDEA and triple DES using the most secure Cipher Block Chaining mode. KOH can use multiple encryption methods, and even allows the user to strongly encrypt the algorithm itself, so that an attacker won`t even know what encryption method to attack until he can crack part of it.
